Rayman’s Boozer on a Dime Space design is proof you can fit five wallpapers in one room
Calling all maximalists: if you’re already convinced of the power of bold wallpaper but can’t seem to choose the perfect wallpaper, Rayman Boozer has a solution for you. In his booth for the Design on a Dime 2022 event to benefit housing work, the New York designer behind Apartment 48 plastered the walls in no less than six wallpaper patterns, creating a collage effect that sets the backdrop for an eclectic, layered room.
Boozer lived up to his nickname “The Color Guru” with this graphic and colorful selection. Its clever application made the piece cohesive rather than overwhelming.
“I was inspired by Liberty”, says Boozer Beautiful house, referring to the iconic London design boutique. Drawing inspiration from his famous Tudor style, Boozer created a geometric framework of dark wooden beams along the surface of the wall that create the effect of frames around his wallpapers – an assortment of Fabricut, Clarence House and Pierre Frey .
Thus installed, the contrasting patterns take on a gallery wall effect, enhanced with works by Claudie Mengel, Susi Bellamy, etc., which Boozer has hung directly on the patchwork walls. He echoed this design on the floor too, layering multiple patterned rugs to designate individual living and dining areas, proof that a more is more mentality can have practical applications too!
As part of the annual Design on a Dime fundraiser, all items from Boozer’s booth were sold to raise money for Housing Works, the New York-based organization that supports people with HIV, AIDS and the homeless.
