WORKSHOP PROFILE
ADAMWHEELERDESIGN (AWD) is a boutique architectural design studio located in the exciting neighborhood known as the Arts District in DTLA. Throughout our 17 years in business, we’ve been dedicated to creating spaces that are both organic and industrial, and our projects vary in location, scale and use.
The belief that architecture is an art form intended to enhance the lives and environments of its users drives our design process. Our goal is to deliver a space that solves the problems and meets the needs of its users while being innovative through the use of materials and techniques.
MEMBERS OF THE TEAM
We appreciate people who innovate with their design and who are creative and collaborative. The right candidate will be a highly motivated individual who excels as a part-time or full-time draftsman and project assistant and can progress independently on multiple projects at once.
QUALIFICATIONS
0-2 years of work experience
Degree in Architecture
Mastery of AutoCAD
Experience with a glue gun and model making
An exceptional eye for design and skills that support the aesthetics of our practice
Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
United States work authorization and resident for more than one year in the Greater Los Angeles area. (Unfortunately, we cannot sponsor work visas and this is an in-person position.)
Excellent communication and organizational skills as our projects vary in size and location.
Proficiency: Adobe Suite, Microsoft Suite, Rhino or similar 3D modeling program, AutoCAD.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Support AWD in the design, production and coordination of projects
Write major parts of assemblies and details of design and construction documents
Research and apply residential, commercial, ADA and FHA codes
Work with city entities to prepare sets of plans for permits
Develop and build models of physical sites
Develop client presentation packages
Help with the administration of the building
Take thorough meeting minutes, keep meticulous records and retain information
