Blackmagic Design adds expanded control panels for ATEM switchers

As well as announcing three new ATEM switchers, Blackmagic Design has announced two new ATEM control panels with expanded buttons.

Blackmagic Design Introduces ATEM Constellation HD Switcher Range

While including the same functionality as the ATEM 2 M/E Advanced Panel which has 20 input buttons, these new models are larger and feature 30 and 40 input buttons. Both models still feature multiple LCD screens for custom button labels, multiple separate system control LCD screens, 2 T-bar fader controls and more.

“The new larger models of the ATEM 2 M/E Advanced Panel are exciting as they still give customers full control of the larger ATEM Constellation switchers, but they are not as deep as the ATEM 4 M/E Advanced Panel, so they don’t ‘take up a lot of space’,” said Grant Petty, CEO of Blackmagic Design.

“With numerous custom LCD screens for dynamic button labeling, customizable colors and a massive number of controls, these new models take ATEM live production switchers to a whole new level. We believe these new models will allow customers to build the most innovative TV studios possible! »

ATEM Advanced Panels unlock the power of ATEM Constellation as they give customers enormous control, allowing customers to configure more complex effects. It’s also a more enjoyable way to work as customers have physical broadcast quality knobs, knobs and a T-bar fader, so customers can access all of the features of the mixer, all while same time.

ATEM Constellation has been designed to offer customers the most advanced live switching workflow. Internally, ATEM Constellation has separate program and preview buses that customers can use to switch between sources quickly and accurately.

When selecting transition types, a system control LCD displays the options for that transition, so customers can change its settings without having to navigate complex menus. Everything is instantly available. This gives customers multiple ways to switch. Clients can even cut directly to the program bus. With ATEM Advanced Panels, customers have all the controls they need to quickly access all types of transitions.

ATEM switchers offer customers a huge range of transition styles. Standard SMPTE wipes are included, and the wipes can have edge softening for smooth, dreamy transitions that are more exciting than simple cross dissolves. Immersion transitions create an immersive color effect, but since users can access any video source, they can create truly innovative effects. DVE transitions use the DVE to create crazy movements where the entire foreground image moves. The t-bar fader even allows customers to manually position the transition for full control.

Enhance wipe transitions by accessing settings to turn them into exciting effects. While customers can select the scanning pattern directly on the LCD screen, customers can also add many customizations to suit their production style. Customers can even use the dedicated joystick to set precise scanning pattern positioning.

ATEM Advanced Panels are perfect for positioning the DVE for custom picture-in-picture effects as they include a joystick. Customers can also use the soft buttons and menus on the LCD screen to adjust position, size, and other DVE features such as lighting and drop shadow effects. The DVE can be configured to fly graphics into the frame or select one of the pre-programmed push and squeeze transitions.

Ergonomically designed T-bar control allows customers to seamlessly transition in live performance. Sometimes the excitement of a live event means clients need to feel a transition for it to be perfectly in sync with the cameramen and talent. Like a conductor, their ATEM Constellation becomes part of the performance and sets the mood as the production unfolds.

Move items on the screen using the joystick. With full 3-axis control, customers can adjust X, Y and Z positions of scan patterns and position ATEM Constellation DVEs. Joystick control with the DVE is ideal for positioning live video over video. Scale size, position up and down or left and right for the perfect picture in picture effect. Customers can also use the joystick to move the DVE and enter start and end keyframe screen positions for their own custom animated DVE movements.

Each system control LCD display has a direct access keypad with a button for each function and an LCD display and soft buttons and buttons. There are hundreds of switcher settings available for keyers, transition selection, DVEs and color generators, as well as switcher video standard, multi-view configuration and even input button remapping. Customers can even save and recall 10 individual panel setups and store them in the panel.

Another benefit of the ATEM Advanced Panel is the built-in macros, where customers can very easily record their own custom macros and trigger playback at the touch of a button. This means that clients do not need to use a computer to work with macros, as they can trigger them from the same hardware panel that clients switch from. Customers can set up different macros to trigger under each macro button, and the thin strip LCD display under the buttons will show customers which button has been assigned to which macro.
