The Foundation for Peace and Unification(Chairman, Chung Hwan kwak) was established on the 17th of January, 2008, and is an international nonprofit private organization. FPU has a main office in Seoul, including a branch in New York, USA. A new office in Moscow, Russia is scheduled to be open soon. FPU was set up to promote 'The Bering Strait Project' and 'Undersea Tunnel Project between Korea and Japan' announced in November, 1981. 'The Bering Strait Project' is a large scale project aimed at linking the east and the west hemisphere of this globe as one single land transportation system by constructing a undersea tunnel or a bridge over the Bering Strait and connecting railroad systems between Russia and USA. Throughout the project, FPU has been pursuing a far-reaching vision to prepare for the future of mankind by developing natural resources in Siberia and Alaska which has been left alone without being developed by human beings for a long time and creating a new type of wealth in the world as well as to contribute to the permanent world peace through the communication between nations, cultures, races and religions. |
